What makes a seed grow? Why do we grow things? What does a fresh ear of corn taste like? How is art related to gardening?

Answer these questions and many more with this complete four-week unit study on gardens and gardening. Encompassing the history of gardens, plant science, planning and planting a garden, and the arts, this study is perfect for any time of year. Grow seeds on the windowsill through the wintertime, watch a sweet potato sprout and spread across the top of the refrigerator, and make virtual visits to some world-famous gardens. From pole-bean tepees to sunflower houses, what memories you will make!

The Gardens unit is in electronic format, meaning your children can work through the study interactively, clicking on the links in each lesson to further their own investigation. Each day's lesson plan has been written in two levels: Lower Level (elementary grades) and Upper Level (junior/senior high grades), enabling the whole family to learn together!

Get out your gardening gloves and dig right in! There is so much to learn as you and your children explore Gardens!

Take a peek inside this unit.
